Society

Our Society formed in 1993 as the result of strong public opposition to a Provincial government proposal to construct parking areas on salt marshes located to the east of Crescent Beach, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.  Crescent Beach is one of the most important salt marshes in the Maritimes along the Atlantic Flyway for migratory shore birds, who come to rest and feed on their way South each year.

Our objective is to foster the growth, preservation and maintenance of the flora, fauna, migratory and non-migratory birds and the habitat, the beach, sand dunes, marsh land and mud flats above and below the tidal waters of Green Bay, including Crescent Beach, Dublin Bay and LaHave Islands, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, as well as the adjacent lands.  We encourage the permanent and seasonal residents of the area and all members of the public and future generations to cooperate and work with all levels of government in this growth, preservation, maintenance and use.
